The points I note here are:

1. Lack of visionary leadership. Many leaders may already have rudimentary applications of the discussed concept, but we actually need to assess whether we need a full blown movement rather than changing simple aspects which might not actually alter much the shape of present movements.

2. The left and the secular elements in the developing world have primarily identified themselves as being anti-Islamism, more so from whipped up propaganda on their own ends than from exacerbation from the end of proponents of political Islam. I have serious doubts as to whether they would be willing to sit down, even with a new generation of ultra modern appropriately labelled Islamists. Here I am trying to point out about how do we make them listen and sit with us?

3. Maybe its the fault of either the proponents of political Islam or the political secularists, but the fact remains that change towards a brighter end will be delayed as long as staunch indoctrinators occupy the driving seats. This is in part due to the fact that our visionaries are too occupied with their visions and less inclined to carry out the changes they so envision themselves. Maybe its not always the fault of the 'old guard'.

4. This article, although visionary, should be built upon. Maududi was visionary in the sense that he built upon his ideas and succeeded in gathering around him a group of men who helped him shape a package that suited the needs of his time and generation. We must not be restricted to looking up to Tariq Ramadan for the next step, but evolve our thoughts and ideas as well to help in shaping and developing the concepts and models that will actually help in bringing about an intellectual dimension to the movement to establish political Islam.

Just simple thoughts...............

Re: Me, Myself and Ego

Nice conversation, indeed.

loved the punch line of the post

Myself: I am a slave of Allah. Good governance cant exist until there is total care of the country system. Govt. offers negligible salary and we expect that public servant will keep them away form bribery letting the family in hunger. Police has to harass many Wasims as govt. set the system like that. and consequences of some harassment may be cruel for life (e.g., death, miss the competitive exam, etc.)
Total system should be addressed... a standard level of development (e.g. education, employment, strong political and constitutional institutions, etc) is must for that.

Re: On Sleep

So, when the new one gets older must be less caressed?
